Las Galeras
A rustic thatched hostel, nestled in a sleepy beach town in the North East of the DR. You feel like you’ve washed up on the shore of a hidden paradise. There was rum, rainbows and puppies for gods sake 😂
I volunteered here for almost 2 months, working 4-hour shifts 5 days a week.
It was remarkably chill.
In the meantime, I studied, got a little stressed about future careers and then told myself to breathe, figure it out in the future, go to the beach and enjoy the present 🌊
Las Galeras is a special place where tourists can feel like locals. There is little to no animosity and enough Bad Bunny to keep everyone happy. *Side note living next to a bar that plays Spanish music non-stop is a very effective way to learn the language 👌
So is happening to end up in a situationship with Jaimito, my gorgeous Dominican lover 😇 We went on trips to nearby Samana and local beaches on a variety of vehicles, including a cross moto and a quad bike (he’s a mechanic).
I also improved my confidence speaking español because he didn’t speak a word of English. We spent countless lovely moments together 💛
More lovely moments :
falafal night
Mar 💛 / giggles w German & lovely Nikki and her adoration of lovely Pierre
Bruuugallll (the local rum)
the way everyone chatted with each other
the smell of fresh bread from the bakery next door
getting awesome trenzas (braids)
living in a town where people drink beer for breakfast
yoga (as always)
getting my tenth ear piercing in a phone repair shop 🤷♀️
taking a nice trip to an incredible beautiful guesthouse (photo with the rainbow) where I did a lovely hike that was exactly what I needed for a little perspectiva ✨
Santo Domingo
I will never forget my time here
(except for the parts I don’t remember 😂)
increíble fiesta mis amores 🤍
let’s just leave it at that ;)
Santiago de los caballeros
What do you get when you don’t realise Puerto Rico is an American territory and don’t have your ESTA visa to get your flight?
an incredible weekend with an awesome Dominican family who turned up too late for the flight and invited to me back to their house. That’s what :)
We chatted, cooked, the mum did my nails and we went to a birthday party !
I will never forget their generosity, kindness and love and for accepting me into their family for a brief moment . . .
🥰 un gran gracias a mi familia dominicana!
Just don’t do this and end up with a concussion 😪
+ my brief week in Puerto Rico 💖
