5 Things I’ve learnt from studying at The Open Uni

I transferred from Newcastle University to The Open University and from a Psychology degree to the Open Degree. It may just be the best decision I have ever made.

Here’s what I’ve learned from finishing my degree with Open University:

1. It is possible to complete your undergrad degree anywhere in the world (that has WiFi)

2. Moving out of a class of over 300 students, 70% of whom were white, British and female like myself, enabled me to become part of a global community and learn about other cultures, languages and global issues.

3. The Open Uni tells you what you are going to learn, you learn it, then you reflect on what you have learnt. That last factor also holds the most emphasis, which I appreciate.

4. I am in control of my learning. I understand it’s value and importance.

5. I have saved £6000 in tuition fees (one year at OU costs £6,500 not £9,500) and around £10,000 in accommodation fees by using Workaway to travel

If you’d like to learn more check out Open Learn where you can find thousands of free courses on nearly every topic and get to understand the style of distance learning the OU provides
